Important Interchange Notes:

  • 2014 and earlier vehicles can use a 2015+ engine. Ford lists the later cylinder head with Cylinder Head Temperature (CHT) sensor as a service replacement for earlier models.
  • Group A engines use a 6-rib main drive belt and do not have a cylinder head temperature sensor.
  • Group B engines use a 4-rib main drive belt and do not have a cylinder head temperature sensor.
  • Group C engines use a 4-rib main drive belt and include a cylinder head temperature sensor.
  • Electrical, intake, fuel, and induction systems may vary between years and applications and may need to be transferred from the original engine.
  • 2014 and newer engines may have a different throttle body design.

Critical Installation Warnings:

  • Do NOT rotate or crank the engine with the harmonic balancer removed. Doing so can cause the valve timing to shift and may result in bent valves.
  • Do NOT remove the harmonic balancer unless absolutely necessary. The lower timing gear is not keyed to the crankshaft and improper installation can cause severe engine damage.
